Full Time or Part time

Hiring immediately

Jain Montessori is a boutique micro-school in Rockville serving children ages 3–6 through a blend of Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, nature-based learning, and old-school practical life. We’re looking for a Lead Teacher who’s equal parts heart, humor, and high skill — someone who loves childhood, believes in wonder, and can hold a classroom with warmth and structure.

If you’re the type of person who doesn’t flinch at mud, paint, or sensory chaos… if you’re happiest guiding little humans through real work, real life skills, and real curiosity… you might be our person.

What We’re Looking For

• Someone who is a kid at heart — playful, creative, goofy, and deeply respectful of children.
• Someone who embraces messiness (mud kitchen, sand, paint, gardening… we mean messy).
• Montessori-informed practice — you don’t have to be credentialed, but you must genuinely understand and value Montessori philosophy.
• Someone who believes in peaceful discipline, emotional regulation, and community care.
• A teacher who can lead a classroom with confidence, warmth, and flow.
• Someone who values nature, storytelling, hands-on learning, and a soulful classroom environment.
• A collaborator who communicates well with teammates and families.
• A dependable professional who can balance joy with responsibility.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 18 ECE units, including the required 3 units of Administration/Supervision.
• At least 2 years of classroom experience.
• Comfort working with mixed-age groups (3–6).
• Ability to create and maintain a prepared environment.
• CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
• Able to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and move between indoor/outdoor environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Montessori training or strong experience in a Montessori environment.
• Experience with Reggio, Waldorf, project-based learning, or nature-based programs.
• Strong classroom leadership skills and confidence in guiding assistants.

Who Thrives Here

• Teachers who love creativity, community, curriculum, and culture.
• Teachers who don’t mind getting rained on, garden dirt under their nails, or dye-stained fingers from art days.
• Teachers who can hold structure with love and humor.
• Teachers who believe childhood should feel magical, grounded, and full of purpose.

If you want to be part of a warm, soulful, academically strong, nature-rich, Montessori-rooted little school, we’d love to meet you.
